Ham & Cheese Filo Pie

5 sheets of filo pastry – cut in half

Olive oil for brushing

150g shaved ham

2 cups grated tasty cheese

2 tbsp grainy mustard

1 egg & 1 tbsp water for egg wash

Sesame seeds for garnish

 

Preheat oven to 200C.

Place a half filo pastry sheet on a baking tray and using the olive oil, brush each sheet as you layer until 5 sheets are used.  Repeat with the remaining sheets to form the top layer of pastry.

Spread the grainy mustard on top ensuring that you leave a 2 cm border around the edge, scatter 1 cup of the grated on top then place the shaved ham and finally the remaining cup of cheese.

Brush the egg wash around the edges of the pastry bottom then place the other layer on top.  Go around and gently pinch the edges together.  Finally brush the top with the egg wash. Scatter with the sesame seeds.

Bake for about 20 – 25 minutes or until golden brown.

Serve with a good tomato chutney or sauce.
